54% of the Brazilian population is black, while 82.2% of congressmen and 84% of journalists at the biggest newspapers are white.

Raça magazine, the largest publication on afro culture in Brazil, rethought the use of twitter to fight against the structural racism that silences black voices.

Disc cover and visual concept
for the band's new album

Meyot is a brazilian Band formed by Arthur Montenegro and Giuliam Uchima. In their first full studio album, they play about modern life, disconnection with the outer world, boredom, the role of labor, the feeling of non belonging and even supremacist attacks which dominate the politic clash.

When we first talked about how they vizualized this journey, three main topics kept raising conversations: the disc could represent a white elephant in the room, the songs had iridescent tones and the attitude of the lyrics could portrait a kind of bluff.

Why this shape?

The spiral is a shape that represents the materialization of life, along the lines of the Golden ratio and Fibonacci found in nature.

This stylized symbol is a way of interpreting paramount soup concepts in addition to reinforcing the depth of the album’s searches.

Furthermore, the aggressive and pointed aesthetics of the finishes represent the discomfort of the work’s theme,
the discomfort of not being an easy-to-absorb material.

Why bismuth?

Bismuth is a metal found in nature.

He is pratically immortal. For example, it takes longer than the age of the universe to deteriorate. It is a metal that, during the melting process, releases this iridescent crystal that symbolizes bluff.

For this to happen, heat is required, which creates a beautiful relationship with the paramount soup.

We wanted to bring something more organic to this process and thus bring a certain strangeness.

The process

Since the symbol was decided we agreed to follow an uncertain but promising path: to sculpt this shape from scratch and then portrait it searching for it's place. Not only the final visual of the piece was a mistery because of the chaotic way cristals form on the liquid state of bismuth, but also the layout we took to the chosen location for the shooting could be the cover or half the way to it.

From this process, two images were picked up and used by the band as singles before the album launch. Below you can see a small selection of how the visual was born and adapted until the final result.

Created in 2019, Chuvisco became one of the biggest skateparks in the country, raising attention to the importance of public investment in sports, even more when this one had became Olympic.

The south zone of Sao Paulo represented too much for skateboarding and for me, so I made this as a personal project, using online images and footage tagged with the skatepark name.

A film with true stories
to launch the brand redesign

Pravaler is a tuition assistance program available around the country, and its main drive is to encourage anyone who dreams to have an academic study.

During 12 years they have researched true stories of hard work and wanted to portrait them along with the brand redesign.

Ana Couto Design Studio worked for almost two years with the client to redesign its brand. The insight of the angle in the logo came from the check marks used by professors in classes and the colors came from diversity. We saw this construction as the base for the film launch.

The same angle and shape from the logo served as the starting point for the film identity and visual insights.

For 10 years ESPN had a partnership with the main ad agencies from Brazil, organizing a soccer championship between media professionals and famous soccer players.

They wanted more participants subscribing online, giving the event some extra wit from start. We brought the ESPN narrative expertise from the TV to the website itself, and some media elements inspiration for the design.

Cup Noodles

Taste it your way

Global print campaign

ooh

Cup Noodles is a snack eaten on the way to everywhere, but mostly in the subways around the world. Some spots even offer hot water for you to eat on the run.

Connecting the noodles with the subway lines and the Brazilian flavors with stations around the world, we could create an international consistent campaign.

Brazil is a huge country, and to govern it, it takes a considerable amount of breath, articulation and intelligence. Speaking of which, A.I. has been improving lately, becoming capable of creating dreamlike motion pictures that resembles the way politics is made in the country.

Despite the huge challenges our people struggle to overcome, the commitment of our politician is constantly questioned, even more when a bunch of them appear sleeping during congress sessions. Turning all this into fun, seems a way Brazilians try to move on, or fight it.
